A coalition of downtown property owners working together to enhance and revitalize the local business district.


The Downtown Merced Clean & Safe services are provided by Restore Merced, a local non-profit. Restore Merced provides pathways to better work, healthy community, coaching, and spiritual formation to individuals with barriers to employment.
Over a year ago, the Downtown Merced District voted to approve the formation of a Property Based Improvement District (PBID). This resulted in the formation of a non-profit organization to operate the District as overseen by a Board of Directors. The non-profit is now known as the Downtown Merced Property Owners Association (DMPOA)
The Downtown Ambassadors enhance the downtown experience by offering hospitality, cleaning, and safety services. Ambassadors play a key role in making Downtown Merced a secure and attractive destination, assisting the public with directions and information while maintaining a strong, visible presence. Their efforts help improve overall safety, and ensure the area remains clean and inviting.
Maintain sidewalks, collect trash, and care for landscaping.
Assist with directions, outreach, and merchant support.
Address unhoused presence in coordination with Merced PD and provide Information on local resources
Besides cleaning and community services, the PBID takes on small projects to make Downtown Merced more attractive and walkable. These upgrades help draw visitors and enhance the area for residents.
